Offline desktop application
Book copies, student loans, and return deadlines in one offline library desk application.
Library management system for Datamex College of Saint Adeline
The problem is keeping availability, borrowers, and due dates connected. A book title can have several physical copies, so a title-level count does not tell staff which copy is out or who has it. DCSA Library brings active loans, due-today records, overdue books, and available copies into one daily overview.
Titles and physical copies have separate records. Each copy keeps its own accession number, shelf, and availability. Staff can search the catalogue and identify the exact copy for a loan, rather than treating every copy of a title as interchangeable.
Staff find an active student, select an available copy, and review the borrower, accession number, and due date before confirming. A copy can have only one active loan. Configurable borrowing limits and overdue rules are checked as part of the lending workflow.
At return, staff confirm the copy’s condition. Damaged or lost copies remain unavailable until their status is resolved. Completed transactions stay in searchable circulation history, so staff can trace the borrower, checkout, deadline, and return instead of losing the record when a loan closes.
Electron packages the Windows application and SQLite stores records on the library computer. Daily local backups and external backup exports support recovery. Administrators set calendar-day loan duration, borrowing limits, and overdue blocking to match the library’s approved policy.
